“Makaha is a hidden jewel.
A great resort that is undergoing a resurrection; the golf course is a championship course and is about to finish it's renovation. Top Golf People are friendly , good uncomplicated food....some great Hawaiian selections; Campus style setting ...no high rises; polynesian architecture... very retro ! Great stay ...would recommend as an alternative to busy, bustling Honolulu“

-"Tranquil, gorgeous setting, open , spectacular views, warm staff" Tripadvisor
“We stayed at the Makaha Resort and Golf Club for 2 weeks in August 2010. We were a group of 9 and loved our stay. My husband and I, our 3 sons and one of their friends (aged 19 to 26) all had a wonderful vacation. The rooms were spacious and the surroundings were beautifully landscaped. It was close to the beach and we had rented a van to get around the entire island which was a good idea as there's so much to do and see in Oahu.“
“I stayed here with a group competing at the PCC in August 2010 and have to say that the visit was quite enjoyable. The staff were very helpful, the rooms were a good size and clean and the pool was awesome!“
“I was made to feel at home. The rooms were spectacular and the views amazing!“
“We liked its location away from the hustle and bustle of Waikiki, and the setting of the lodgings as well. The rooms and furniture could do with a bit of uplift, but overall we had a pleasant stay. There are some great views of the ocean from the property, and there are some nice beaches without a lot of crowd just a couple of miles away.“
-"Nice & Quiet Stay in Scenic Surroundings" Tripadvisor
“This is a golf resort and looks like a great one. I stayed because of proximity to Kapolei industrial park where I had business. Others stay there too, including a group of surfers participating in an international surf competition. Nice, well maintained grounds and hotel. Not an extreme resort, but laid back and quiet. I’ll stay there again if I have business in Kapolei.“

“A hidden gem! Restaurant has quality food, service is great, portions are generous, and prices are low. Location of resort is away from the commercialized hustle and bustle areas, tucked away in seclusion, untouched by time. This place is what Hawaii is all about. Paradise! The rooms are dated but functional and clean. Keep in mind this place is not a ritzy ditsy grand hotel. It’s a reflection of what Hawaii is- natural and beautiful.“
-"Quiet and relaxing" Expedia
“I really enjoyed my stay at the Makaha Resort. The grounds were full of plumeria trees and other local plants. The atmosphere was very casual. You did have to walk a ways to your room from the parking lot but they did provide rides per golf cart attendants. The staff was very friendly and the room was large and very comfortable. I would go back in a heart beat and recommend this place to anyone who wants to get away from the hustle and bustle of the tourist route. It is quite a ways from Waikiki but this is what I wanted and wasn’t disappointed!“
-"Very relaxing experience" Expedia
“We are experienced travelers and we vacation in Hawaii every winter. I was a bit concerned after reading the reviews from other tripadvisors about the cleanliness, shabby rooms, etc., so we paid for the deluxe room upgrade adding about $10 per night. I was pleasantly surprised. The room was clean, no problems. The resort is about 2 miles from and isolated from the hustle and bustle of the coast and very quiet. The resort is nestled between high hills. The room had room darkening shades. We slept well. The grounds are stunningly beautiful with mature palms, plumeria, hisbiscus, African tulip tree and bouganvillea all over. See the attached pictures of the rooms and main building. Even though there are no cooking facilities in the rooms, there are grills to use in a park area near the units and we grilled fresh fish twice. The rooms are set far back from the parking lot, so you get a golf cart ride to your room when you arrive and when you leave, or whenever you ask for a ride.“
-"Nice Golf Course, Good Value" Tripadvisor
“While it is true that Makaha Resort is an older facility, it is thoroughly well-maintained. If you are on Oahu to sit in a fancy room, you wasted airfare. This is paradise, and the Makaha sits on some of the most stunning land. Its remote location as far from Honolulu as you can get on the Leeward side, makes this a peaceful, serene setting for a relaxing and affordable vacation.“
-"Classic & Serene" Expedia
“Beautiful grounds with friendly staff. Food was excellent. Completely away from the tourist attractions, but that gives you that secluded Hawaiian feel. Lots of great beaches along the way.“
